SWAFFHAM TRAIL Michael Carroll Home

Former bin man Michael Carroll was born in 1983 in Swaffham and won the UK National Lottery in 2002, winning almost ten million pounds, aged only 19.

He enjoyed a celebrity status for a time as the self-styled King of Chavs – a phrase he had emblazoned on his black Mercedes van. Soon after winning his money he said he would not be tempted into spending his money lavishly but by 2006 he had no money left and had committed a lot of crime during the four years.

He is rumoured now to be working at Walkers Shortbread factory in Elgin, Scotland.
